The eggs are served in egg cups, and the toast strips, known as 'soldiers', are dipped into the runny egg yolk. Berry bircher muesli

The ultimate breakfast, full of oats, fruit, yoghurt, nuts and seeds. This is really filling and healthy and, best of all, most of the work can be done the night before!

Breakfast wraps

Pasta with pea pesto

All you need to do is cook some fresh or dried pasta, then stir through this lovely creamy sauce to make a delicious dinner. Ask for adult help to use the food processor and drain the pasta.

Classic macaroni cheese

Everyone’s number one comfort food. This is the classic recipe, complete with breadcrumbs and tomato slices. With so many possible variations, you’ll never be bored - make it spicy with a bit of chilly, use different cheeses or even add extra, add your favourite veg like peas or cauliflower or puréed squash. The sauce needs to be smooth but thick so you might want to ask an adult to help make this.

Easy blackberry turnovers

These yummy turnovers are so easy to make they may well become your favourite homemade breakfast treat. You'll need a sharp knife to cut the pastry into squares so ask an adult to help you when cutting!

Mini quiches

Quiche is delicious for the whole family. You can ask an adult to get involved and help you with the oven and rolling out the pastry. This recipe makes 12 mini quiches.

Sweetcorn fritters

These go well with grilled chicken, steak or sausages. Once you've done all the mixing, ask an adult to help you fry the fritters in the hot butter.

Chicken not pot noodles

This really is the ultimate quick meal – it will take you just a few minutes to prepare the vegetables, then pour over boiling water and leave this meal to ‘cook’ on its own. Make sure you choose noodles that will soften in boiling water without the need for cooking. Ask an adult to help you when handling the boiling water.

Roast peppers with cherry tomatoes, ricotta & pesto

Serve these colourful roast peppers with crusty white bread for mopping up the juices. Ask an adult to help you lift the baking dish in and out of the oven.

Rice pilaf

This rice is delicious with meat, fish or vegetable main dishes and can also be served cold as a salad.

Sweet & sour chicken with rice

This sweet and sour recipe is delicious. Serve with rice and vegetables — baby corn, green beans, mushrooms and courgettes all work well. The hob can get quite hot, so ask an adult to help you when using it.

Peach cobbler

A cobbler is a fruit dessert with a biscuit crust. The topping is left lumpy to get the 'cobbled' effect that gives the dessert its name. Older toddlers love to help mix the dough. Orange & cranberry ice lollies

Soft, sticky banana cake is delicious and even better when it's topped with a rich cream cheese icing. It’s also a great way to use up very ripe bananas that you think are a bit too soft to eat. Ask an adult to help you line the tin and to use the oven.

These plain (but delicious) vanilla cupcakes are made mind-blowing by the addition of popping candy to their butter-cream icing. The oven can get quite hot, so ask an adult to help you when using it.

Toasted bagel with cream cheese & grapes

This pretty variation on a bagel with cream cheese comes with the addition of juicy grapes. The bagels and grapes need to be cut in half so you can ask an adult to help you do this.

Lamb koftas

Rolled in fresh parsley and mint, these delicious lamb kebabs can be grilled, cooked on a griddle or grilled outside on the barbecue. If you want to barbecue them, you will need an adult to do this for you.

Warm potato & egg salad

This warm and colourful potato and egg salad has lots of great added flavours. The potatoes will be soft when cooked and cooled so you should be able to slice them with a plastic knife – or ask and adult to help you.

Cheesy mash

This is fun and easy to make and tastes delicious on its own or served with fish or chicken. Ask an adult to help get the potatoes in an out of the oven and use a plastic knife to cut them in half.
